Streets Ahead comes to Hayes
9:10am Monday 6th September 2010
GRAFFITTI clean-ups, organised walks and sporting activities are just some of the events to mark Hillingdon Council’s Streets Ahead week of community event. The events will be held in Hayes from Saturday 18 - Friday 24 September, and kicks off on the Saturday with a community information fair in Botwell Church Hall, Botwell Lane.
The fair, which is open from 10.30am - 1.30pm, offers the chance for residents to meet council officers, local organisations and community groups.
There will be more than 40 stalls where people can try out the music decks on the youth bus, have a free health check or even join Botwell Green Leisure Centre.
The programme of events includes more than 100 activities for families, young people and older residents to enjoy and to help make Hayes a cleaner, greener and safer place.
Councillor Douglas Mills, Cabinet Member for Improvement, Partnerships and Community Safety, said: “Streets Ahead is a great way for us to get to the heart of community issues and for residents to help to shape the place they live in.
There are lots of events for people to take part in and it is a good opportunity for residents to meet officers and discuss how we can improve council services even further.”
